My guess was right, Paypal is not sending me emails to update my account information with them.

On May 10, afternoon, I sent an email to Paypal regarding these emails I’ve been getting to update my account.  I felt that there’s something fishy with the email’s link to Paypal so, I directly asked Paypal about this.

Yesterday morning, I got the reply that clarifies the issue:

Just to quote my advice from my previous blog entry,

…be vigilant.  Know the links you are clicking before filling up important information about yourself especially information about your Paypal account.  You’ll never know it might be one of those phishing mails spreading online.  They’ll get your information especially with regards to your bank information, hack your account and get the money stored in it.

So be careful.  Be very careful.

 

I keep on receiving an email regarding my Paypal account information updates from a certain noreplay@service.com.

As you can see the magnified URL, it is not pointing at Paypal.com, so I haven’t updated my account information.  But this morning, when I received another one, it made me think: what if I get in touch with Paypal regarding these emails and ask them directly if they are really sending out emails to their customers for any account information updates.  I sent them an email just a while ago.  As of this writing I am now waiting for Paypal’s response on my inquiry, and I wanted to be clear with this issue.

As an advice to anyone who is experiencing the same thing, receiving emails regarding your Paypal account information update, be vigilant.  Know the links you are clicking before filling up important information about yourself especially information about your Paypal account.  You’ll never know it might be one of those phishing mails spreading online.  They’ll get your information especially with regards to your bank information, hack your account and get the money stored in it.

Now, I’m waiting for Paypal’s response within 24 hours as per their automated confirming receipt.  Let’s see what Paypal has to say on this.
